MARGARITA KYANIDOU
FOUNDER | LEAD ARCHITECT
Margarita Kyanidou is an architect engineer and founder of the award-winning ONUS Architecture Studio, a Greece-based practice with an international outlook and a strong focus on sustainable, regenerative architecture. Her work is shaped by the belief that architecture can enhance everyday life while creating long-term environmental, social, and spatial value. Through ONUS, she leads projects that combine bold architectural thinking, bioclimatic intelligence, and a clear sensitivity to place, materiality, and experience.
As a growing practice, ONUS approaches each commission with close attention, conceptual clarity, and a strong sense of responsibility toward both client and context. The philosophy of the studio is grounded in the idea that sustainability is not treated as an added layer, but as a core design force that informs the identity, performance, and atmosphere of each project. For ONUS, architecture is a way to reconnect people with nature, respond meaningfully to the specific conditions of place, and transform environmental thinking into real added value for both clients and communities. This approach allows the studio to develop projects with a distinct architectural character, long-term relevance, and a thoughtful balance between innovation, performance, and experience.
With academic and professional experience across Greece and the Netherlands, Margarita Kyanidou has developed an approach rooted in circular design principles, environmental performance, and contemporary architectural expression. Under her leadership, ONUS Architecture Studio has received important distinctions in Greece and internationally, including awards at the Exteriors Awards, the GRAIL Awards 2025, the DNA Paris Design Awards, and the Architizer A+ Awards, where the studio was recognised for Best Sustainable Residential Project Worldwide. The practice has also been featured in the Biennale of Young Architects and named among Architizer’s 220 Architectural Studios to Watch Worldwide. In parallel with her design work, she has contributed to the broader architectural discourse through conference talks and public presentations on sustainable architecture, environmental design, and resilient built environments
