WHO WE ARE:

Onus Architecture Studio is an award winning creative team of architects based in Athens and Thessaloniki, Greece. In December 2024, it was selected as one of the Top 100 Greek Architecture Studios, a recognition published in the widely respected “To Vima” newspaper.

The design team is committed to sustainable architecture, with a strong focus on circular design principles and thoughtful material strategies. The studio balances contextual sensitivity with clean, bold architectural forms, aiming to create spaces that are both environmentally responsible and architecturally distinct. With a design approach rooted in environmental performance, social impact, and clarity of expression, ONUS represents a new wave of Greek architecture that is conscious, innovative, and grounded in long-term value.

At Onus Architecture Studio, we see architecture as a living process—one that emerges from the delicate balance between structure and spontaneity, tradition and innovation, function and expression. Every design is an exploration, shaped by its context, needs, and the ever-evolving dialogue between people and space.

A every composition, architecture requires rhythm, coordination, and balance. It is a discipline that constantly adapts, learns, and challenges conventions. The built environment is often constrained by rigid patterns, yet creativity flourishes in moments of disruption—where new ideas take root and push beyond limitations.

ONUS Architecture Studio was founded by Margarita Kyanidou in 2023. With a strong background in sustainable design and circular construction systems, educated at TU Delft and trained in both Greece and the Netherlands, she brings a research-driven approach that bridges environmental responsibility with architectural precision.

At ONUS, we believe that architecture must respond intelligently to its context—both environmental and social. Our work is defined by clarity of form, material honesty, and a commitment to long-term value. Whether designing a house in the Cyclades or a public intervention in the city, our aim is to produce architecture that performs—technically, socially, and spatially. Every line we draw, every material we choose, and every strategy we apply speaks to a broader responsibility: to reduce waste, extend life cycles, and design spaces that matter—now and in the future prioritizing sustainability, not as an afterthought, but as an inherent element of design—allowing spaces to evolve responsibly while enhancing both their environmental and social impact.
